Ruff and Wright Kickoff Re-election Campaigns
George Allen and Virgil Goode on Hand for Announcement.

Lunenburg County - Former Governor George Allen and former Congressman Virgil Goode joined State Senator Frank Ruff and Delegate Tommy Wright as they announced their re-election bids.   At a kick-off dinner at Arrowhead Gun Club with scores of supporters on hand, Wright and Ruff thanked those in attendance for their support over the years, not only for themselves, but also for the hard work over the years of Congressman Goode and Governor Allen.

Wright welcomed Cumberland County as part of the new 61st House district, while Ruff pointed out that there were major changes to the 15th Senate district.  Noting that he regretted the 15th losing many of the counties to the north that he had enjoyed serving, Ruff nevertheless expressed optimism about regaining Nottoway, much of Dinwiddie and part of Prince George, each of which he represented prior to the 1991 redistricting. Ruff said "While many will not be able to vote for me, if re-elected, I can continue to vote for them and their values."

Allen, Goode, and former 5th District Republican Chairman Tucker Watkins praised the work of both Ruff and Wright in their past service in the General Assembly.  Additionally, Allen and Goode spoke to the crowd about their concerns of the growing federal deficit and the current administration's policy of bypassing Congress with regulations by EPA and other agencies.
