Chesterfield, Virginia — June 24, 2011 — Senator Stephen H. Martin (R-Chesterfield) has received the Republican nomination in the 11th Senate District. Martin will appear on the ballot in the General Election to be held on November 8.
“I love the community and the people I am privileged to serve,” said Martin. “It is an honor to represent my neighbors, friends and fellow citizens in the Virginia Senate, and I look forward to our continued service together.”
Senator Martin is a senior member on each of the committees on which he serves: Education and Health, Privileges and Elections, Local Government and General Laws. When Republicans regain a majority, he will return as a senior member of the Rules Committee.
“Steve Martin has such strong support throughout our community because he both works hard for us while in Session and is so very active in our community, year ‘round,” noted Mike Thomas, chairman of the 11th Senatorial GOP Committee. “As a local businessman, he knows firsthand the impact that laws the legislators consider have on our families and businesses.”
“We try to make sure I am accessible and responsive to those I serve,” said Martin.
The 11th District is comprised of Amelia County and the City of Colonial Heights, and most of Chesterfield County.
