But it Is Patriotism

Monday is an occasion to celebrate our freedoms. Our freedom of speech, our freedom to choose our leaders and our right to bear arms. On Fourth of July, however, we must remember and honor the most important document to our nation, the United States Constitution, thanking the visionaries protecting our constitutional freedoms in 1776 and those men and women of the armed forces protecting them today.

Erma Bombeck (1927-1996), American humorist and best-selling author once said,

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by  the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism."

At your pool parties, picnics and backyard cookouts, I hope you join me in taking a moment to thank all members of the armed forces for their service to this great Nation. Have a happy, healthy and safe holiday. God Bless you, your family and the United States of America.
