The message of Easter is the message of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as foreshadowed in the Jewish tradition of Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread. Christians around the world celebrate the words that were heard, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen." Christians celebrate the day as the one when Jesus was resurrected from the grave after crucifixion.
Whether you are a believer of Jesus Christ or not, the words He spoke over 2000 years ago are words for everyone everywhere. "Love one another;" "bear one another's burdens;" "do unto others as you would have them do unto you;" "forgive one another, 70 times 7;" "it is better to give than to receive;" "fear not;" and "Rejoice." So, as Virginians, let's rejoice that we live in a free country where people can speak their different opinions openly and fear not!
Just a few weeks ago, we created the Virginia Commonwealth Prayer Caucus to encourage members of all faiths to openly pray together. In case you missed my comments from the Virginia Call to Prayer Day, click here to watch.
Enjoy this beautiful Easter weekend!
