I was in Raleigh, N.C., Sept. 19, for a meeting of the Virginia/North Carolina Interstate High Speed Rail Compact, an organization I am honored to chair. The Compact is working jointly on planning and development of enhanced passenger rail from Charlotte N.C., to Washington D.C. This would include intercity connections with Raleigh, N.C, Richmond, Va. and Norfolk Va. |
Much has been said in recent weeks about Virginia’s energy needs for the future. That future certainly includes the appropriate and effective use of solar power and wind energy. These sources, however, are not as readily reliable as nuclear, gas and coal.
My answer to fulfilling the needs of Virginia is "all of the above," says Senator John Watkins of Virginia's 10th District. We must encourage energy development of all types.

As it currently stands, I do not have an opponent on the ballot for the November election for the 15th District Senate seat. Mr. Thomas did not collect enough signatures on petitions to qualify. He has, however, vowed he will appeal.
